The French men’s archery team won its ticket to the Tokyo Olympics (July 23-August 8) thanks to its third place in the final Olympic qualifying tournament, this Saturday at the Charléty stadium. Imperials against Ukraine (6-0) at the end of the day disrupted by a storm, the three French archers, Jean-Charles Valladont, Pierre Plihon and Thomas Chirault, finished on the TQO podium, a condition required for go to the Olympics.
This team qualification also offers individual places at the Games in Plihon and Chirault. Valladont, silver medalist at the Rio Olympics in 2016, had already validated his individual presence in Tokyo during the European TQO in Antalya (Turkey), in early June.
The French archers (Lisa Barbelin, Mélanie Gaubil, Angeline Cohendet) will try to imitate their male counterparts on Sunday during the women’s team tournament.
