The ‘2022 DB Group Badminton Korean League’, the first-ever badminton business league attempted, will take half of the tournament schedule on the 27th.

In the Badminton Korean League, 8 business teams each will participate and play 3 games per team until the 9th of next month.

The badminton world looks forward to this tournament as an opportunity to establish a professional badminton league and lead to the launch of a professional league in which several companies form teams and participate.

The launch of the professional badminton league is a long-standing dream of Kim Joong-soo (62), president of the Korea Industrial Badminton Federation, who took office in January last year.

It is also the promise made by Chairman Kim when he ran for president.

The first step was the Badminton Korean League, and the present Chairman Kim is confident that the tournament has reached a turning point.

Chairman Kim said in a phone call with Yonhap News on the 27th, “I was half worried and half excited before the league was launched, but I gained confidence in my own way through the tournament. said

If business teams that have not participated in this tournament confirm their intention to participate, the 2nd Badminton Korean League is expected to be held at the end of this year as soon as possible.

Chairman Kim said, “The first attempt at the Badminton Business League is receiving a lot of attention as it is broadcast live on TV.

He said, “I am able to prepare for the next tournament more confidently,” he said.

As the scale of the tournament grows, the current location of the Hwado Sports and Culture Center in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do will be expanded to a regional system.

Chairman Kim said, “Due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and real problems such as broadcast, we are holding the competition by designating a venue in one place, but we plan to introduce a ‘home-and-away’ local ointment system later.”

Chairman Kim’s ultimate goal is to launch a professional badminton league before December 2024, within his term of office.

Corporate team by increasing the number of badminton corporate teams, which are currently 4 men’s teams (Gwangju Bank, Samsung Life Insurance, Saemaeul Geumgo, Incheon Airport) and 5 women’s teams (Samsung Life Insurance, Saemaeul Geumgo, Incheon Airport, Jeonbuk Bank, KGC Ginseng Corporation) The plan is to split the league into a professional league centered on government offices and a business league centered on government offices.
