The sports purposes for 2022 of national athletes

Yuri Rodríguez, Herbert Aceituno and Roberto Hernández tell us about their sporting goals for 2022

A LONG WORK TOWARDS THE NEXT PARALYMPIC GAMES

Parathlete Herbert Aceituno had one of the best years of his career in 2021. He achieved the first medal in the history of El Salvador in the Paralympic Games, by winning the bronze medal in the category of up to 59 kilos of parapowerlifting in the games from Tokyo. Also it obtained a silver medal, in the world-wide one.

After such a brilliant year Aceituno does not lower his head and is already thinking about the next Olympic cycle: “I start this year thanking God that he gives me health and above all that I can have good results in the competitions for qualification for the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. “

“My purposes above all are to have a good participation in all my competitions, if God allows it, new joys for the country and to be able to give me the possibility of being able to represent all Salvadorans with dignity and above all in memory of my father who will always be the fundamental pillar for me to continue in this sport ”, added Aceituno.

In June, the Asian regional championships, in Korea. In July the regional of the Americas in the United States and November the regional championship of Africa, in Egypt, are the three fundamental competitions for Aceituno this year.

The fundamental competence would be the regional of the Americas, because it is the main one to be able to have a good participation in the route requested by the international association. Aceituno explained how his preparation will be in 2022: “This year it will be a double cycle because we are going to take Korea as a secondary competition, and the US as the main one, that would be the first cycle. In August – December we are going to prepare for Egypt ”, he concluded.

AN ILLUSION THAT TARGETS WORLDWIDE GAMES

At the beginning of November, the Salvadoran goalkeeper Roberto Hernández won his ticket to the XI World Games. It is an event that – as the athlete himself says – is a kind of “Olympic Games” for the modality of compound archery.

Now, the Santaneco will continue his preparation for the fair that will be in Birmingham, Alabama, USA (July 7 to 17, 2022).

The work will be intense, to play a good role. The goalkeeper is very clear about his purpose for 2022 and it is to win a metal in these World Games: “I am not going to lie, it is to win a medal, that will be the focus. I would like, it is a personal dream, to be able to win a gold medal, because I am currently CA, CA and Caribbean, Pan American champion, and I would have the opportunity to unify everything by winning World Games, which would be to win all the games of my Olympic cycle. It would be exceptional to be able to achieve it ”.

Roberto also explained about all his preparation, which will be very important after recovering from an injury that left him out of action for seven weeks: “I will prepare together with Sofía Paiz, who won the other place, since I will have“ individual participation and in mixed ”.

I would hope to attend “the three world cups that come before (Turkey, Shanghai, Paris); to the World Ranking event, in Puerto Rico; and to a training base in the US, to be 100% for such an important event, “he said. Hernández will attend his third World Games (previously in Cali, Colombia 2013; and Wroclaw, Poland 2017).

THE GOAL: ABSOLUTE CHAMPION

Last year was very busy for the Salvadoran bodybuilder Yuri Rodríguez, where he became the first Salvadoran to be crowned world champion of bodybuilding, in the category games classic bodybuilding +175 cm of the World Championship of Bodybuilding and Fitness.

He also had controversy with the Legislative Assembly: The New Ideas party wanted to honor him and give him recognition, but Yuri reminded them that athletes or appointments do not live on tickets. He was harshly criticized for this, but Yuri never fell apart and defended himself from criticism. Yuri is very clear about her goals for 2022.

“In my resolutions each year it is always to try to do a little more than what has already been done, it seems difficult to overcome a world championship but it is still in the possibilities, because when I am champion I always face the other champions of the modality, to see who is the absolute champion, “he said.

“This year I was champion in my category but when I faced the other champion of the category, he was champion of the modality. So I was world champion in my category, but not absolute champion, and that would be a good goal for this year 2022 ”, he added.

Regarding his preparation for this year, Yuri said the following: “That will require teamwork, a lot of preparation, and financial disposition. We are also going to see if we continue to train at home with the INDES machines, which worked quite well for us, which has yet to be confirmed if they will be loaned to us for another year. If we will not see if we buy one of our savings or if not, we will have to move to a gym ”, he concluded.
