Moments of tension were experienced this Sunday during the dispute of the final of the Chilean Super Cup Come in Catholic University Y colo colo. Fans of both teams maintained a violent crossing inside the stadium that forced the authorities to stop the actions of the match for a few minutes.

For a few moments it seemed that calm returned, but then the violence intensified.

The protagonists of the meeting held some talks near the substitute benches and, based on these exchanges, the referees decided to temporarily suspend the actions and retire to the changing rooms. Some players did the same, although the vast majority stayed on the pitch. By then, the separation between both fans had already been transgressed, the incidents continued and there was a serious risk of field invasion, something that endangered the integrity of soccer players, judges and other members of the delegations. Finally, everyone decided to wait in the dressing rooms.

This situation caused a wave of repudiation and the most resounding words were those of the elected president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, who wrote on his social networks: “What nonsense is what is happening in the stadium (aggressions in the stands). They call themselves fans (it doesn’t matter what team they are) and with their behavior they deprive everyone of the spectacle of football. They do not care that there are children or families. We cannot naturalize this. Not well”.

After 20 minutes, and after it was confirmed that the disturbances had ended and security conditions were guaranteed, the teams returned to the field of play and actions resumed with the score 0-0.

The Chilean Super Cup faces the Catholic University, current four-time local soccer champion, colo colo in the first official match of the 2022 season prior to the start of the National Championship. This is the first major challenge of the year for both clubs, where the crusaders seek to win the crown for the fourth consecutive year against a rival who disputed the 2021 star until the last dates of last season.
