The Junta de Andalucía will be the institutional sponsor of the I Women Cycling Pro Costa de Almería

The Women Cycling Pro Costa de Almeria, a one-day international women’s cycling event that will debut on the calendar on February 5 under the organization of Total Sport Mediterraneanwill have the institutional sponsorship of the Andalusian Government, through its Education and Sports Delegation, after the agreement reached between the manager of the sports events promoter, Sergio Dominguez, and the territorial delegate of the area, Antonio Jimenez Rosales.

The Sports delegate has expressed his “support for this classic female cyclist in the same way that we have been supporting the Skoda Titan Series” and highlighted that “our climate and orography are perfect for practicing sports”, adding that “we want them to take notice of our land and for high-level teams to come here to prepare their season and compete in our cycling events”.

For Jiménez Rosales, “we want to put our region and our province on the international map”, and for this “we have had the European football championship, badminton world cup and this test comes to complete that list of sporting events to promote our province and the autonomous community”.

The territorial delegate for Sports has stated that “in Almería the weather is perfect and we have a significant number of hours of sunshine throughout the year”. Without going any further, Jiménez Rosales points out that “This Christmas we have enjoyed almost spring weather in Almería”, in addition to the fact that “we have the largest desert in Europe or peaks of about two thousand meters of altitude almost at the foot of the beach”. All this gives Almería “privileged conditions for cycling and sports practice”.

Finally, the delegate thanked “there are entrepreneurs who bring sports events to our province like the one we are going to celebrate next february 5”. The Women Cycling Pro Costa de Almería, with nearly 140 kilometers of route, departure in Campohermoso (Níjar) and arrival in Cuevas del Almanzora, will make its debut on the international road cycling calendar and will feature the best professional cycling teams from Spain and Portugal, as well as up to two other teams from the rest of the European continent.

With this Women Cycling Pro, Almería becomes one of the great stages of international cycling in Spain, since it will host two professional cycling events, both male and female. Without a doubt, this female ‘classic cyclist’ will be one of the great sporting events in Almería during 2022, also counting on the Teledeporte cameras.
