The Archers Leins Gardonnenque is chaired by Valérie Thévenet. Sixty-four members regularly visit the sports hall (youngsters, youngsters and adults).
Recently, the Saint-Geniès archers’ club organized a youth challenge in conjunction with the departmental section of the French Archery Federation in the sports hall.
About 80 young people from the department, deprived of indoor competition for two years, found themselves in a very cordial and warm atmosphere (twelve clubs from the Gard were represented).
By team (three best scores of the club), the archers of Saint-Geniès obtained silver with 712 points (Alexia 252, Mathis Chavate 233 points, and Alexi 227 points) two points behind the leaders, Manduel.
Special mention for Alexia Pérez who took the top step of the podium (252 points). This performance now places her in the As Discovery category.
After the departmental youth challenge, it’s time for the qualifying competition for the French championship, adult level, on Sunday 16 January.
Congratulations to Pierre Plihon of the archers of Nîmes, of international level. He achieved his second set 299/300, (592/600) on both sets.
City Councilor Nicole Jourdan said a few words of empathy as she has been a member of the club for some time. She took the opportunity to congratulate Clara Fortin-Boismard, 13, at least, who qualified for the French indoor archery championship in Cholet.
The municipality has decided to allocate him an exceptional subsidy of €300 dedicated to the purchase of twelve very high quality arrows which will allow him to fly the colors of Saint-Geniès. Véronique Poignet Senger, president of the Lein-Gardonnenque mixed union and mayor of Montignargues also wanted to congratulate all the athletes on the podiums.
