Tennis. Tsitsipas on Djokovic: ‘He played by his own rules’

Mexico City /

Greek Stéfanos Tsitsipás, fourth in the ATP ranking, he referred to the already controversial case involving Novak Djokovic due to the health protocols established in Australia prior to the start of the first Grand Slam it’s from the season.

“Of course, has been playing by his own rules and he’s been doing what not many players had the guts to do, especially after the ATP announced certain criteria for players to enter the country, “he mentioned Tsitsipas on the news channel WION from India.

“Nobody really thought they could come to Australia without getting vaccinated and without having to follow protocols … It takes a lot of daring to do it and put the Grand Slam at risk, something I don’t think many players would do, “he added.

‘A minority makes the majority look foolish’

In the same interview, the Greek was questioned as to whether the Serbian should defend his title in the Australian Open, this despite his refusal to be vaccinated against the COVID-19, what Tsitsipas answered:

“There are two ways of looking at it. On the one hand almost all players are fully vaccinated… and have followed the protocols for playing in Australia. On the other hand, it seems that not everyone follows the rules … a very small majority chose to go their own way, which makes that most of them look like a fool“he commented.
