Tennis icon Chris Evert makes cancer public

She is a legend of women’s tennis and has been at the top. Now Chris Evert has made it public that she has been diagnosed with cancer. She has three children.

Former world-class tennis player Chris Evert has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The 67-year-old American announced this on Saturday via Twitter. She wanted to share her story to help others, explained the former world number one.

She is happy that it was detected early and positive results of chemotherapy are expected, said the tennis icon. Evert led the world rankings for 260 weeks during her career. She is a mother of three and was the first to achieve 1,000 wins in singles. Her duels with Martina Navrátilová are legendary. At the Australian Open in 1988 she lost to Steffi Graf. That heralded the end of her active career.
