Stan Wawrinka is no longer in the top 100 of the ATP world rankings for the first time since April 25, 2005.
The Vaudois, who had been on hold since the beginning of March 2021 due to a foot injury, fell from 82nd to 103rd place – he lost the points from his semi-final in Doha a year ago.
Since the 360 points from the quarter-finals at last year’s Australian Open will soon also be out of valuation, Wawrinka will then be in the region of 180th rank. The 36-year-old hopes to be able to play competitively again in the spring. In that case he would benefit from a protected classification that would open the door for him at the major tournaments.
