Sindy Santana trusts she will be a benchmark in RD weights

Santo Domingo.-Being a reference in the discipline of weightlifting in the Dominican Republic and much of the Caribbean is one of the greatest wishes of Sindy Santana Carrión.

Santana Carrión, a young native of San Pedro de Macorís, a place of great weightlifters, dreams of climbing large stages and setting her footprints in this famous sport.

The athlete, who first tried judo and later discovered that her true passion was weightlifting, dedicates much of her time to improving her techniques to emulate the steps of a Wanda Rijo, Yuderqui Contreras, Miosotis Heredia and Guillermina Candelario, among others. .

“I have followed the careers of those great weightlifters who were an inspiration, not only for me, but also for many of my colleagues, and like them, I want to embody my name on big stages and be a reference for weights. ”Said the bronze medalist of the past Pan American Youth Games in Cali, Colombia.

“With the passage of time and with a lot of discipline and health, people will get to know me, since I am focused on being a worthy representative of our country.

I will eternally thank the coach Rebeca Mingó, who was responsible for my practicing this sport today and for belonging to the ranks of the youth team of weights, “said the 20-year-old athlete.

It is the career that Sindy studies at the Dominican University O&M, “Apart from my sport, psychology is other of the things that I am passionate about, in addition to weights, I want to contribute to my nation as a professional in the field.”
