PSV also lost Maxi Romero for top match against Ajax | Football

It Eindhovens Dagblad reports on Saturday evening that the Argentine striker, who had just returned to fitness, has been temporarily out of action again due to an injury. Sources at PSV confirm that reporting.

The absence of Romero is a major blow through the account of PSV coach Roger Schmidt, who previously also saw Carlos Vinicius drop out injured. Eran Zahavi, the attack leader of the Eindhoven team, made his comeback in the cup match with Telstar on Thursday after being sidelined for more than two and a half months.

Romero was taken over by PSV for 10 million euros from Velez Sarsfield four years ago. Last week he only got a base place for the first time in the away game against FC Groningen. The striker was constantly struggling with injuries. A serious knee injury kept him out for a year. This season he returned to the selection, but that was not without a struggle. He was out for a few weeks in November with groin complaints. Romero still has a contract with PSV until 2023, but seems to be a bad buy due to all those physical inconveniences.
