Petrushenko’s revised record of 300 meters does not count

Today in Liepaja the second stage of the Sportland Cup in indoor athletics took place. The Latvian record in 300 meters was corrected by Ilya Petrushenko, showing the result in 33.65 seconds.

The winner of the second place also ran faster than the previous record – Artūrs Pastors finished after 33.85 seconds, but the third place was won by Valērijs Valinščikovs, finishing after 34.49 seconds.

Later, the athletics union informed that due to a technical error, the result presented by Petrušenko will not be confirmed as a Latvian record.

Jānis Leitis still owns a record of 300 meters indoors, who in 2017 in Ventspils showed a result of 33.89 seconds.

On Saturday, Leitis took part in the long jump competition, winning it. In the next jump, Leitis showed a result of 7.32 meters, which is the best result of the season. Lithuanian Artūrs Raklevičus took the second place with a jump of 7.14 meters, but Rojs Suveizda won the third place with a jump of 6.56 meters.

On Friday, Uģis Jocis started in the 3,000-meter distance in France, ranking 7th with his best result of the season – eight minutes 03:75 seconds. However, this result was almost six seconds behind the athlete’s best career result, which Jocis showed in the 2018 competition in Boston.
