Paco Gento, legend of Real Madrid, dies at the age of 88

BarcelonaFrancisco Gento, a former Real Madrid player and international with the Spanish national team, died on Tuesday at the age of 88, according to the Madrid club. Paco Gento played for Real Madrid for 18 seasons, from 1953 to 1971, during which he won six European Cups – the player who has won the most -, twelve leagues, two Spanish Cups and an Intercontinental, among other trophies with the white entity.

“Real Madrid, its president and its board of directors deeply regret the death of Francisco Gento, honorary president of Real Madrid – a position he inherited after the death of Alfredo Di Stefano – and one of the greatest legends of our club and world football, “said the Madrid club in a statement. Born in the Cantabrian town of Guarnizo, Paco Gento, a pure left winger, played 600 games with the white shirt, in which he scored 182 goals, and was international on 43 occasions.
