Nothing indicates that things are fine inside the dressing room of the Green Bay Packers’ than when they come together to debunk a newer rumor about Aaron Rodgers.

One of the weirdest rumors about Rodgers emerged Friday when former NFL player and longtime analyst Boomer Esiason shared that he received text messages from someone claiming to be in Rodgers’s “direct circle” and claiming that the three-time NFL MVP planned to threaten not to play in the Super Bowl, if the Packers make it, unless the league alters some of its rules COVID -19.

Even stranger, Esiason had his radio co-host Gregg Giannotti read the texts live during WFAN’s The Morning Show with Boomer & Gio on January 7 with a segment of the program which was later spread on social networks. Here’s what Giannotti read from someone Esiason said he would trust with his information:

Boom, the Rodgers saga continues to get crazier and crazier. Several people in Aaron’s immediate circle have told me that if the Packers make it to the Super Bowl, he will use the week leading up to the Super Bowl to make an important point. He will threaten the NFL saying that he will not play in the big game or next season if they do not remove some of the rules related to COVID. One of the big ones that bothers him the most is the asymptomatic gambler test. He has told Jordan Love to be ready. Like you said, he has to get it done first, but Super Bowl week is going to catch fire and send (NFL Commissioner Roger) Goddell on a frenzy of handling the situation.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Rodgers and the other Packers quarterbacks to hear the report and take a spin around Twitter.

Packers quarterbacks dismissed the report as ‘Fake News’

As the subject of the ridiculous rumor, Rodgers took the first retaliatory opportunity on Esiason’s show on Twitter when he mocked her quote about him by telling Love, the Packers backup quarterback and 2020 first-round pick, to be out. ready for the Super Bowl and lamented the report as #fakenews and the #dumbestf *** ingstoryever.

At one point, Rodgers even tagged former understudy Matt Flynn and dragged him into the conversation after Love “admitted” that he was the one who had leaked the boycott story. While Flynn warned to “keep me out of this”, he also joked that he had been responsible for some of the leaks during the 2021 offseason about Rodgers and said Love was “stealing my moves like he stole my number.”

Beyond poking fun at the boycott story, Rodgers and Benkert also wondered which one is better in Halo with Benkert challenging his veteran quarterback with the message that “it’s time to send the old man into retirement. Sure, Benkert has an esports association, but Rodgers maintains that his “traditional” skills as a player will win out in the end.

And as long as the showdown airs, we all win in the end, right?
