NFL: Aaron Rodgers still sows doubt about his future

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has once again cast doubt on his future with the Green Bay Packers, after the San Francisco 49ers abruptly ended the team’s season by winning 13-10 in a playoff game held Saturday night at Lambeau Field.

“I’m going to have to take some time and have discussions with the people here and then step back and make a decision before the free agent market starts to open,” Rodgers said after the Packers lost a lead of seven points in the fourth quarter.

Rodgers also left his future a mystery last year following the Packers’ elimination to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Conference Finals.

After a long saga with team management, Rodgers finally returned with the Packers and led them in 2021 to a third straight 13-win season. He was, however, unable to lead them to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2010 season.

“There are a lot of decisions to be made,” added the 38-year-old athlete. There are many players whose future is uncertain. So it will be interesting to see which direction the team takes. »

Among those players is Rodgers’ favorite target, Davante Adams, who will become a free agent. The star wide receiver is the only player to catch more than one pass against the 49ers on Saturday night.

Rodgers said he did not want to participate in a rebuild. Note that the Packers will not really have any salary leeway when the free agent market opens. Rodgers hasn’t said whether he wants to play elsewhere or just retire.

“It’s hard to say right now,” Rodgers said.
