This weekend of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 January 2022, 280 players should tread the 14 terrains, distributed over the site of the Monery at The arrow.
533 players registered, so a good number are on the waiting list. Injuries, Covid-19… can modify, until the last moment, the list of participants of this 20 th edition of the national tournament.
In any case, one thing is certain, the plateau will once again be raised. “We will have in the N2 table players who generally go from 50 th French at 200 th “, observes Yves Delorme president of the badminton section of the USF. Players from all over the country will make the trip We have a very large representation of the Ile de France. Their secret? “They are used to having to register well in advance,” notes the president.
In all 113 clubs who will be represented. 13 La Flèche players will be involved in the various draws.
More than 60 volunteers mobilized
540 matches will be contested over the two days. “Saturdays, we will start at 8 a.m., until 9:30 p.m. On Sundays generally it is between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. »
For such an organization, the La Flèche club can count on around sixty volunteers this year.
This year, due to restrictions, catering will be kept to a minimum. A barnum was set up for players who were encouraged to bring their own food. “We feel less enthusiasm than usual but we hope that we will succeed in keeping the friendly side,” says Yves Delorme.
After a year of absence the tournament will indeed come back to life. “Our sponsors followed us to leave. We also have assistance from the town hall, which provides us with rooms and equipment”.
