MLB Websites, Our Top 10

This article is worth here as my tribute to crack, our friend, leader of the podcast «PWild Itcheos Podcast»And collaborator of the web, Javi Urberuaga who, right now, is in other, and more important, tasks. It goes for you, master. !!! I am going to make my little Top 10 of web pages of our sport specially dedicated to the MLB, great competition where there is. Those pages that should always appear in the favorites of any browser and that, far from being our competence, should be visited often by MLB lovers. And, as always, totally subjective.

Here is my Top10:

  1. Wild Pitches

Let me start with ours. A website created by a project led by Angel Lluis Carrillo and where Spanish-speaking baseball fans talk about what we like. A choral and plural web where many people write without filters or censorship of what they want. Here you can find such famous feathers of Spanish-speaking baseball as the aforementioned Javi Urberuaga or Angel Lluis Carrillo or the face of the MLB in our country, Fernando Díaz, or eminences such as Ramiro Blasco, Pepe Latorre and many more. An open space for those who want to participate.

  1. Baseball America

Top 10 MLB Websites

A reference page if you want to know and know things about the MLB, minor leagues, institute and others. As a downside, it is a website that could be considered dedicated to American visitors. He also has one of the best-regarded MLB rankings of prospects.

  1. Baseball Almanac

Top 10 MLB Websites

This word takes me to the mythical movie Back to the Future and means the official page of the history of the MLB and where it is intended to collect all the history of the league. Like Yahoo said, if God were a baseball fan, this website would be like his penthouse. An encyclopedia where you can spend hundreds of hours viewing data and statistics from the web on more than half a million pages. Against it, its interface has become quite obsolete and unattractive for the visitor.

  1. Fangraphs

Top 10 MLB Websites

Another MLB reference page where you can search for daily reports, statistics analysis and graphs on a website that is undoubtedly a world reference in the MLB. This is, perhaps, the one that I am least proficient of the ones I talk about on this website. In addition, this platform has its version dedicated exclusively to fantasy (https://www.fangraphs.com/rotographs) where any fantasy player must enter to be aware of which player to sign for their team, dynamics, etc …

  1. The Athletic

If you want to know and read opinion articles about the MLB (and other American sports and, now, not so American) of the most important pens in the country, this is your digital medium without a doubt. So that you can see the importance of the medium, the New York Times has just acquired the medium for 550 million dollars by a recently created medium (founded in 2016 by workers of the Strava app), which speaks well of the importance that has. People like Evan Drellich, Ken Rosenthal or Eno Sarris, authentic opinion figures about the MLB are part of their cast. Disadvantages? That, to enjoy this medium, you have to scratch your pocket. Also worth noting is the podcast he has called The Athletic Baseball Show.

  1. Spotrac

If you want to be aware of the entire economic branch of the teams, go to this website where you can see the detail of the payrolls of each team, what each player earns each year, what counts for the Competitive Balance Tax, the deferred contracts with which they have, the year of contract where each player is, a summary of all transactions, the free agents of each year or the salaries by position of each team. Very valuable and useful information to understand the economic aspects of each team.

  1. MLB.com

The official MLB page could not be missing in this ranking. Accustomed to terrible official websites of European leagues (to name a few, I would highlight the terrible websites of ACB or Euroleague or, without going any further, that of the professional football league), the American leagues give great importance to their websites and even You can see how they move away, in many articles, from the objectivity that is assumed on an official website. In it you can follow the matches in a real way, graphically seeing each launch and play of each match, videos of highlights, classifications and statistics. The most visited MLB page, by far, around the world and that has statistics as interesting as an average time on the web of 3 minutes, which is not little. It should also be noted that under its shelter is the official website of the minor leagues (www.milb.com).

  1. Baseballsavant

Also known as Statcast, this website is owned by the MLB and is the panacea for any maniac of knowledge and advanced statistics. In this very complete player analysis website you can enter to assess aspects such as the performance of each player with respect to the type of ball thrown, the performance of each thrower with each of his throws in his repertoire, his throwing metrics (such as movements horizontals or verticals of each ball, location of their pitches), their batting metrics (muzzle velocity, draft angle,% of barrels and many comparisons of different types, including many annual comparisons. A very advanced tool for baseball fans who want to go deep into the sport.

  1. MLBtraderumours

Definitely one of my favorites. If you want to be informed of any movement related to the MLB (with versions for NBA, NFL and NHL) this is your website. Transfers, signings, layoffs, drops to minor leagues, arbitrations, renewals. Everything has a place on this website. To see the impact of it, the algorithm used on this website is widely used as a reference in arbitration processes. In addition, it has the possibility of being able to customize it for your favorite team and, in addition, it has a fairly intuitive app. Obviously, it is a current website and not from the past, but if you like to follow current events, this website is a very good option.

  1. Baseball reference

An authentic encyclopedia of the MLB … and the minor leagues, the KBO, the NPB, etc … If you want to search for any player in history, any historical roster, their statistics divided by minors, foreigners or only MLB, historical rankings of each division , individual prizes, final rounds, statistics of any kind, this is your reference page, as its name indicates. In addition, it has quite an interesting utility as a tool (https://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/link_players.cgi) to link all the players that you mention in your writings to their respective page on this website.
