Manchester City generated more revenue than Manchester United for the first time in history | Premier league

Unprecedented record on British soil by the gigantic teams of the city of Manchester.

Manchester City surpassed United in revenue last season for the first time in history, according to a report by consulting firm KPMG.

The Premier League title, along with the Champions League final played by the cityzens, boosted revenues to 644 million euros last season, which is 17% more than the previous season.

For its part, United, which has dominated the Premier financially in recent years, generated 557 million euros in the same period, weighed down by a European campaign in which they fell in the Europa League final and in which they failed lift the Premier for the eighth consecutive year.

Additionally, the Red Devils have gone almost four years without winning a title. However, these figures are upset by the covid pandemic, which forced him to play a good part of last season behind closed doors.

With the return of the public to the stadiums and the consequent economic recovery from the sale of food and drink on game days, as well as the income from television rights, United can regain the financial throne of English football. This is mainly because Old Trafford, United’s stadium, has 20,000 more seats than City’s Etihad Stadium.
