Manager of Quinten Hermans lashes out at cycling federation

The fact that Quinten Hermans is unable to participate in the Cyclo-cross World Championships due to a corona infection was a major setback for the rider.

Manager Hans Van Kasteren does not agree with the procedure that the cycling association has followed around this whole matter. “Quinten indeed had positive covid results on Sunday and Monday, but they were so light that he would most likely test negative on Wednesday,” said Van Kasteren at a press conference.

“We have raised that argument with the union. We offered to pay for the trip ourselves, as the materials are already in America anyway. We then wanted to do another test in America.”

However, it did not come to that, because the union did not want that. “But to no avail, they did not deviate from the procedure. I think a sportsman is being robbed here. Quinten could have started perfectly and covid-free on Sunday.”
