LBMQ gala: the Blue Sox collect four nominations

Four members of the Blue Sox of Thetford Mines are nominated for the 2021 edition of the end of season gala of the Quebec Major League Baseball (LBMQ). This event, which honors the most successful players and speakers, was due to take place in November, but has had to be postponed a few times.

First, Michel Simard is in contention in the “Player 40 and over of the year” category alongside Jean-Sébastien Dessureault from the Cascades de Shawinigan and Pedro Luis-Hernandez from the Cardinaux de Saint-Jérôme.

Jonathan Paquet is nominated for “Pitcher of the Year” along with Xavier Tremblay from the Cascades de Shawinigan and Oscar Rodriguez from the Expos de Sherbrooke.

In the “Rookie Hitter of the Year” category, William Gault is in the running alongside Raphaël John-Leblanc from the Cascades de Shawinigan and Yourri Babin from the Castors d’Acton Vale.

Finally, owner François Lécuyer is named “General Manager of the Year”, along with Mathieu Audet from Brock in Drummondville and Eraklis Tzavellas from Cascades in Shawinigan.

In an interview with Courrier Frontenac, Mr. Lécuyer mentioned having initially believed in an error on the part of the organization with regard to his appointment. “In fact, the title of general manager of the Blue Sox goes to Dominique Bolduc. I was surprised when I saw my name, especially since this choice was made by the other owners of the league. However, it’s been two years online that we have not had much choice in the draft. It must also be said that we have not had the best season in our history. “

As for Michel Simard and Jonathan Paquet, he believes that their appointment is fully deserved and that they have their place. “They are not only two exceptional athletes, but two super fun individuals to be around. They are respected and everyone loves them. They are there for the right reasons. I am really happy for them. “

He is also delighted that William Gault is on the list. “It’s a great catch. The fans love him very much and I love him too. I like his aggressiveness and he deserves this title. I think he has a good chance and I hope he wins. He’s a youngster who made the transition from junior to senior elite really well. He adapted very well. “

Note that the event will be held in virtual mode. The winners will be known over the next week.
