Judo – top year for Wimpassinger judoka

The JC Wimpassing celebrated numerous successes this year and as in previous years. The judo fighters reported to NÖN how the year went from their point of view.

“Of course, I’m most proud of my military world title. I fought hard and really wanted to get this thing. Unfortunately, I couldn’t qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, ”reports Lukas Reiter. Michaela Polleres experienced the most successful year of her entire judo career: “How could it be otherwise, the World Championships (bronze) and the Olympic Games (silver) were definitely my personal highlights. I was particularly happy about the revenge against world champion Barbara Matic in Japan.

That gave me even more strength for the final, ”said the 24-year-old. Lisa Grabner is also satisfied with her performance: “In general, it was a very good year for me. Above all, I am happy that I won bronze at the U21 European Championship in Luxembourg and that I was able to finish the junior area so nicely! “

Marlene Hunger had a difficult year, but was able to fight her way back: “I had a good start to the year and was able to get permission to start my first Grand Slam. Then there was a serious setback from my knee injuries and I had to take a break until October. So I’m very happy that my comeback at the Military World Cup ended in third place! ”Aaron Fara could not be reached to make a statement.

Chairman Erwin Häring draws his conclusion with mixed feelings: “In terms of sport, things could hardly have gone better for us. Everyone in the club got the maximum out of it and I would especially like to thank our top coach Adi Zeltner. I am also grateful to the Wimpassing community, which has always stood behind us 100 percent. In the amateur area it was very difficult, as the fighters were hardly allowed to train, but we also had to keep them going. I hope that will get better in 2022.
