Certainly not an easy task, because he needs match practice at the top level. He is also aware of that. “It’s a Dream. Whether I’ll be nominated is another matter. But it’s my dream to come back.”
Eriksen is convinced that his heart is no obstacle. He had written off his career when he was taken to the hospital by the paramedics who saved his life after suffering cardiac arrest. “In the ambulance I thought: keep my shoes. It’s over. I won’t play football anymore,” he recalls.

One thing is clear now: Eriksen needs match practice for a comeback, and at the highest possible level. His ex-clubs Ajax Amsterdam and Tottenham Hotspur* are possible candidates, and rumor has it that AS Monaco have already put out feelers. Mads Junker, football expert at the Danish broadcaster TV2, brings three other clubs into play. He sees room for Eriksen in central midfield, where Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich have little competition.
