HSV goalkeeper Heuer Fernandes: All clear after the derby

He walked the last groove. Daniel Heuer Fernandes bit in the 2-1 derby win against FC St. Pauli on the teeth. Even after being treated for minutes. In the final minutes, the 29-year-old held the three for his colors – and celebrated his first victory in the city duel.

The horror would have been great if Maximilian Dittgen had sunk this ball in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Heuer Fernandes had something against it, parried the Kiezkicker’s attempt. As he buried the ball under his arms, he must have realized that enough was enough. For the first time since he came to HSV in 2019, the goalkeeper celebrated a derby victory.

What a week for Heuer Fernandes. Last weekend, the former U21 national keeper from Portugal returned to the Hamburg goal after a month-long injury break, saving a penalty in the furious cup victory in Cologne. Now the derby victory as the icing on the cake – including pain. The day after the city duel, the all-clear came from the Volkspark. Heuer Fernandes did not suffer any major injuries. Next week the top game is in Darmstadt – the HSV goalkeeper then wants to do more at his old place of work.
