Houston may be interested in Russell Westbrook’s return

Something is starting to creak between the Los Angeles Lakers e Russell Westbrook, the exclusion from the final match against Indiana and the player’s subsequent words are proof of this. However, the Westbrook contract remains the biggest obstacle to a possible trade, still very unlikely for wage reasons. In addition to this season, in fact, the point guard has one $ 47 million Player Option next year. Under these conditions, no team seems to want / be able to take on Westbrook’s contract.

According to Marc Stein however a franchise interested in Westbrook could be the Houston Rockets, who sent him to Washington in the summer of 2020 after just one season in Texas. The Rockets would like to give up John Wall, who has a contract similar to that of Westbrook, and who has never played this season at the behest of the franchise, eager to give space to young people. In the exchange, however, Houston would ask for compensation in Draft choices. However, the scenario has been defined “Highly unlikely”, but it is a rumor that has irony within it. Just in 2020, Houston sold Russell Westbrook to Washington in exchange for Wall: now it would be willing to take back Westbrook, in exchange for Wall.

Wall’s Player Option next season will be $ 47.3 million.
