Graham Potter: “I am delighted with Steven Alzate”

Steven Alzate continues to receive praise in England. After his great performance against Chelsea and the call to the Colombian National Team, the Brighton coach, Graham Potter, congratulated him for taking advantage of the opportunity last Tuesday when he was one of the team’s figures.

“I think he represented the group at that moment, where everyone is waiting to play. You could see the quality he brought. I think it was probably his best game with us, in a midfield with some of the best players around him,” Potter said.

The coach highlighted what Alzate experienced this season in which he has not had much continuity, firstly because of the strong competition on the squad and later due to an injury that kept him sidelined for 3 months. He pointed out that he has known how to wait and fight for a place in the starting eleven. The call to the National Team is a reward for his football and attitude.

I am delighted with him and this is the reality of the Premier League. It is not easy for players who are not playing and who are waiting, but they have to be professionals. Steven has done that, he has beaten him and got his reward.”, explained the 46-year-old DT.

Brighton is experiencing an acceptable season in Premier, he is currently ninth with 29 points, far from relegation and 7 units from the fifth place that provides a place in the Europa League. The English-Colombian midfielder has played 188 minutes in 5 games played, 2 as a starter. This weekend he will visit Leicester.
