FC Schalke 04 | Grammozis reveals another plan with Terodde and Itakura

FC Schalke 04 is currently preparing meticulously for the resumption of play in the 2nd Bundesliga. On Saturday, the second division played an endurance test against Fortuna Sittard from the Netherlands (1: 1). However, the Schalke team still lacked many important top performers such as central defender Ko Itakura, captain Danny Latza or striker Simon Terodde. After the test, head coach Dimitrios gave information about how the plans for the S04 stars are.

First of all, Grammozis informed that Itakura, who last suffered from COVID-19, is about to return to team training at FC Schalke. The 24-year-old recently tested himself free and is therefore allowed to leave the corona quarantine.

“He will be there again. I’m happy, of course, also because Ko has been very impatient in the past few days, we spoke on the phone more often,” the Schalke coach was quoted as saying in the “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung” after the test match on Saturday. Itakura could be back in the Royal Blues squad for next Sunday’s home game against Holstein Kiel (from 1:30 p.m.).

Terodde should “increase the load” from Monday

The Schalke head coach is also hoping for a comeback in the upcoming league game with star striker Simon Terodde. The veteran fell out for weeks with a torn muscle fiber in his calf and had already completed his first training units in the last few days.

“From next week he will increase the stress in training,” said Grammozis about the further course of action after Terodde had paused in the preparatory game against Fortuna Sittard from the Eredivisie. “I am in good spirits that he will be available for us again next weekend,” added the Gelsenkirchen-based line manager.

With twelve goals this season so far, Simon Terodde is the top scorer of the relegated Bundesliga, who is currently fourth in the table.
