Eric Weddle comes out of retirement to play for the Rams

The Rams’ first postseason synodal they are the Cardinals, one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL this year (8th in total yards and 10th in the air and on the ground). The difficult challenge ahead for the wild card round has forced Sean McVay to reinforce his secondary defense with a retired player.

For the wild card meeting, the Rams have signed retired safety Eric Weddle. Ian Rapoport, de NFL Network, reported the hiring and David Canter, the defender’s agent, confirmed the move. At the moment the economic terms of the defensive back pact are unknown.

In the case of Los Angeles, Weddle’s signature was urgent. The Rams lost Jordan Fuller to an ankle injury and Taylor Rapp is on concussion protocol; safeties available for the Jan. 17 game are Nick Scott, Terrell Burgess and Juju Hughes.

On the part of safety, his incorporation to los Rams represents his first NFL break in nearly two years. Weddle, 37, last played in the league in 2019 for Los Angeles and after a season in Southern California, the Utah graduate opted out due to a meniscus injury.

During 13 campaigns as a professional, Weddle accumulated 1,179 tackles totales (38 para negative reviews), 9.5 sacks, 98 passes defended, 29 interceptions, seven fumbles recovered and five touchdowns.

His illustrious career, in which he played for Chargers, Ravens and Rams, is joined by six Pro Bowl invitations and two first-team All-Pro picks.
