In the basketball Bundesliga, three games will be canceled this weekend due to numerous corona infections among players. The two Hessian clubs are also affected: As the Skyliners Frankfurt announced on Friday, their game on Saturday at BG Göttingen has to be postponed at short notice. The reason is several positive cases in the Frankfurt team during the week.

Since the Skyliners had fewer than eight regular players available, they applied for the match to be relocated to Göttingen. The Frankfurt team was largely isolated. There is not yet a new date for the game at Lower Saxony. It is currently not certain whether the following Skyliners encounter on Sunday (January 23) against Würzburg will have to be rescheduled.

Corona cases in Berlin: Giessen game also relocated

The Gießen 46ers game, which only a few days ago parted ways with their captain and top player John Bryant, at German basketball champion Alba Berlin had already been canceled on Wednesday. There were eleven corona cases among Berliners, the Gießeners said. The Alba team is still in quarantine.

It is already the fifth game that the Berlin club had to cancel due to the Corona outbreak. A new date for the game against the Giessen 46ers has not yet been set. A total of three Bundesliga games are canceled this weekend – in addition to those of the Hessian clubs, there is also the encounter between Chemnitz and Würzburg.
