Coach Ansan Exposes Asnawi’s Weaknesses in Korea

Cho Min Kook is the new coach Ansan Greeners, but the former South Korean national team player already knows his weakness Asnawi Mangkualam.

Full back The Indonesian national team member had his debut season in Korea with Ansan last season. Asnawi played 14 times and created 1 assist, and got 1,004 minutes of playing.

Asnawi could not always defend Ansan because he had several calls to strengthen the Indonesian national team and had suffered an injury.

According to Min Kook, Asnawi has non-technical weaknesses that could hinder his career advancement.

“Asnawi is still too shy to speak Korean. Communication problems can lead to dangerous situations and all kinds of things,” said Min Kook, quoted from Chosun.

Min Kook has his own target for Asnawi this season, which is to advance his position as a wing midfielder instead of full back.

According to him, Asnawi will be more comfortable playing in the front area, so Min Kook believes that the change of position will have a positive impact on the Ansan team and the Indonesian national team.

Asnawi has not yet joined his colleagues at Ansan who are currently undergoing pre-season training. The former PSM Makassar player is currently undergoing a period of quarantine after arriving in Korea from Indonesia earlier this week.

The 22-year-old player is the first Indonesian soccer athlete to compete in South Korea. Asnawi was contracted by Ansan in February 2021 for a year with an option for an extension. At the beginning of this year Asnawi got a new contract until 2023.
