Bryson DeChambeau plans to drive even stronger in 2022 with new weapon – PGA Tour

The biggest hitter on the PGA Tour last year announced that he wanted to achieve even faster ball speeds in 2022, notably by using a new driver from his supplier Cobra with a more closed clubface.

Bryson DeChambeau said he was going to get the green light from the USGA to play a more closed Cobra driver, in order to hit even further. Like any novelty, this requires the approval of the governing bodies.

Once obtained, the club will have its place in DeChambeau’s bag.

“This year I’m going to hit even further. Once it is in my bag this week or next week, I will be able to reach even greater distances ”, he explained.

All the workouts have definitely had an impact on the muscle chain.

The world n ° 8 gained the most points (Strokes Gained) on the rest of the field in this part of the game last season but wishes to continue in this direction.

“We are on the verge of having equipment which will allow me to reach a ball speed of 200 mph on the circuit” , explained DeChambeau during the press conference in video intended to promote Saudi International. “I’m super excited and happy with Cobra. We worked well together. ”

Absent from this week’s Sony Open due to left wrist injury, the winner of the US Open says that will not prevent him from continuing his quest for power.

“My left wrist injury has been bothering me for about three or four weeks. All the workouts have definitely had an impact on the muscle chain. It’s true that I’ve reached a point where I put a lot of speed and strength into my wrist. ”
