Because of free, relaxed Sunday afternoons! At that time, Roel Moors had the next TV appointment again, watched the Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and the Niners Chemnitz, which the Saxons surprisingly won 65:63 in the Audi Dome and thus their reputation as the feared opponent of the Trinchieri -Teams confirmed for the third time.

Göttingen – The Saxons are the next opponent of the BG Göttingen on Wednesday (7 p.m.) – it is the second attempt that this game is played. On the Wednesday before Christmas, it was canceled at short notice when the violets had already stayed in Chemnitz and the cancellation came on the morning of the match day – due to several corona cases on the team of coach Rodrigo Pastore.

The BG was – to put it cautiously – astonished at the rejection, as it should not have complied with the BBL statutes. Then you have to play if there are at least eight licensed players in the squad available.

At least the BG set out on the new trip to Chemnitz with restored self-confidence. The victory in Giessen was one for morale. Instead of bowing your head, you go on the tour with your head held high. “We are welded together as a team,” said Harper Kamp after the fifth away win at Mittelhessen. “We put in a lot of effort.”

“It was important that Stephen Brown was there again,” said Mathis Mönninghoff. “Not only on the offensive, but also on the defensive.”

Defeated five top teams

When looking at the current table, it is noticeable that the BG not only has the ominous ten victories in the bag, which are generally considered necessary to realize relegation, but that they have already won against five of the top 8 teams : Bonn (home), Berlin (away), Ulm (away), Crailsheim (home) and Ludwigsburg (home). Only against Munich there was one of the three home bankruptcies – the last game against one of the top 8 teams is on Wednesday (7 p.m.) in Chemnitz before the first half of the next Saturday (6 p.m.) at home against Frankfurt .

As with Kyan Anderson in Giessen, there is the next reunion with an ex-BGer at the “Messe Chemnitz”: Nelson Weidemann switched to the Pastore team, but after a good start he was out for a long time because he broke his hand. At 65:63 in Munich he was one of the starters, but ultimately only played 6:08 minutes. Eric Washington, who contributed eleven points to the “Chemnitz Coup” in his second game for the Niners, is new to the Chemnitz team, only surpassed by ex-Braunschweig player Trent Lockett (13), who also had two cool three-pointers in the crunch Time made the decision. Does the violets have enough strength for the next difficult task? (haz / gsd)
