Bazet. Alain, the ASCB judo teacher, has left the tatami

In October 2009, Alain Cazaux after twenty years of hiatus, voluntarily reassembled a judo club within the ASCB. In October 2021, for health reasons, he ended his judo partnership with his association of heart while remaining there as an active member alongside his devoted wife Nadine. And then, on December 29, the very sad news fell, Sore Made (the end of the fight in Japanese) for Alain who had just left the Bazet tatami for good.

Alain, the obstinate, breathed judo through all the pores of his body. He had this unwavering need to transmit certainly out of love and also out of respect for others. In love with Japan where he made several trips, he always brought back gifts for his students whom he cherished so much.

During his performances, his internships, his demonstrations, his shows at the ASCB, he was inexhaustible on the subject with, in support, films, photos and traditional outfits from the land of the rising sun. During one of these performances he had put on the samurai costume he had just acquired and which he described as follows: the hakama, the kimono, the haori and finalized by the famous obi. To make it look larger than life, he had put on tabi and geta. That day there was really nothing missing from Alain to make him look like a Japanese man, except of course his very western face, not to say Bigourdan! From now on, the ASCB, his judoka friends and of course Nadine his faithful wife are orphans and mourn Alain.

In Bazet, in memory of Alain, judo must endure. Of course, we will no longer hear his firm and determined voice, always giving the right advice, instilling in his proteges the true values of this sport, but life must go on.

I end with one of his favorite phrases: “The very principle of judo is to find your balance in order to unbalance the other.”

Sayonara l’ami.
