Báez and Delbonis debut in the main draw at ATP 250 in Sydney

Argentine tennis player Sebastián Báez (95th) debuts today, at 9:00 p.m. (Argentine time), in the main draw of ATP 250 in Sydney against the local Christopher O’Connell (173 °) after having passed the classification. On the other hand, Federico Delbonis (42 °) will do the same against the Spanish Albert Ramos-Viñolas (44 °) from 22.20 (Argentina time).

The Saint Martin native will be looking for his second victory in this type of tournament, as he had beaten Frenchman Corentin Moutet 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the ATP 500 in Hamburg last year.

In turn, Báez will play for the second consecutive week on main draw of an ATP tournament, since last week he played the Melbourne ATP, in which he fell in the last round of qualifying, but was favored by the loss of Belarusian Ilya Ivashka, which allowed him to enter the main draw as a lucky loser. In that contest he lost against Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori (90 °) by 7-6 (2) and 6-1.

By last, the native of Azul will return to compete after having played the ATP Cup representing Argentina. In it he won two games (against Aleksandre Metreveli of Georgia and Michail Pervolarakis of Greece) and lost one (against Kamil Majchrzak of Poland). It will also be his first participation in the Sydney tournament for him.
