BADMINTON: Yvon Crépelle “It’s not too late…”

L’Amiens UC Badminton begins the return phase of the championship with the reception of Rueil-Malmaison. On the occasion of mid-season, the captain takes stock and discusses the prospects.

The players of the AUC Badminton chained disappointments during the first leg, on the occasion of this second part of the championship, we exchanged with the captain of the club’s pennant team, Yvon Crepelle, who cannot hide his disappointment. Admittedly, there have been many setbacks for the people of Amiens, but on the pitch, they expressed a lot of frustration during the various oppositions, results far from satisfying the team and its captain : “As captain and player at the same time, it is very difficult. We knew at the start of the season that it wasn’t going to be easy, but it’s more complicated than expected. The objectives and the results that we hoped for are not there for the moment, it is not too late but we will have to give ourselves the means. Alone we go faster, together we go further. »

It evokes us without detour, the complexity of his role as captain, with ” a team that changes at each meeting, between the injured, the sick and the regional interclubs in parallel”. However, he remains lucid about the lack of success that the people of Amiens have demonstrated, and their potential: “For the return phase, we hope that it will go better, with fewer absences linked to injuries or the epidemic, we also have to manage to turn the matches into 3 sets a little more to our advantage. … Of course, if the opposing teams record absences at the level of their foreign players, this could lighten their squad and give us simpler matches from time to time”.

The results will come if we give ourselves the means together

The goal of the Amiénois leader, at the start of the season, was the maintenance, even if on the side of the leaders, the idea was to do the best. Today, the captain sees his goal as “Always achievable, but we will have to react as quickly as possible and get the smallest point that can make the difference in the final classification. The results will come if we give ourselves the means together”.

The people of Amiens make no secret of it, they know they are capable of better and are keen to realize more of their opportunities. They can count on the support of their public who remain mobilized behind the club’s first team, which for them has not been unworthy since the start of the season. The Samarians will have to try to bounce back from this Saturday January 29, with the receipt of Rueil-Malmaison, team which, as a reminder, had during the first day, recorded irregularities in its ranks and offered a victory on green carpet to the Picardy team. Which tells us a colorful return match.
