Australian Open | Djokovic must disappear! The Australian authorities have denied the tennis star entry

Djokovic got into trouble due to the wrong type of visa, which has now been revoked. The Serbian player wanted to enter Australia on the basis of a document that does not allow a medical exemption from coronavirus vaccination. The world’s number one lawyers are still trying to reverse the decision.

“Foreigners who do not have valid visas or whose visas have been revoked will be detained and expelled from Australia,” the Australian Border Service said in an official statement.

The Serbian tennis player arrived at the Australian Open to fight for a record 21st grand slam title thanks to an exception he received under as yet unclear circumstances. He had to provide immigration officials with documents proving the validity of the medical exemption. He is speculated to have obtained it through having covid-19 in the past six months. But the player did not disclose the details and no one else can do it.

Granting an exemption for Djokovic in Australia has sparked a wave of resentment, as the Australian Open is otherwise only open to vaccinated players and all other players, and strict regulations apply in the country.

A Serbian tennis player has been waiting for approval of entry into the country since his arrival on Wednesday before midnight Australian time, according to his father in isolation, where he was guarded by the police. “Novak is currently in a room that no one else is allowed in. Two police officers are guarding it before entering it,” Srdjan Djokovic was quoted as saying by the B92 internet portal, according to which the tennis player could not even have a mobile phone with him.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic offered help to Djokovic. “I told our Novak that the whole of Serbia is with him and that our authorities are doing what they can to put an end to the harassment of the world’s best tennis player immediately,” Vučič said in a statement on the instagram.

The Australian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Belgrade, and the Serbian embassy is involved in the case in Australia. However, with prolonged negotiations with immigration officials, according to the Australian media, the probability increased that Djokovic would eventually have to leave the country.

The team of the 20-time Grand Slam champion applied for the wrong type of visa. The Border Guard contacted the state government of Victoria. “The federal government has asked whether we will support Novak Djokovic’s visa application to Australia. We will not give Novak Djokovic individual visa application to attend the Australian Open 2022. We have always made two things clear: visa approval is a matter for the federal government and medical exemptions they are a matter for doctors, “Victoria Sports Minister Jaala Pulford said on Twitter.

A border spokeswoman later clarified her statement. “The Australian Border Agency did not ask the Victoria government for a visa. He wanted the Victoria government to confirm its public statements in support of his entry and to find out if Victoria had information about his medical records,” The Age quoted her as saying.
