FROM THE TERRITORIES – January 6: a Befana of solidarity and inclusion
Socks and games in the Fornelli juvenile penal institute in the Apulian capital. They were brought by Uisp Bari, as part of the “Open doors: good wishes from sport” initiative. The guests of the institute received gifts donated by the municipality of Bari, as a wish and hope for a new beginning outside the walls. In these weeks of festivities, Uisp Bari held a series of appointments in the juvenile penitentiary bringing the atmosphere of Christmas to prison: musical evenings, karaoke, Latin dance and hip hop sessions, football matches, basketball and archery. The goal was to focus the attention of the children on their abilities, helping them to discover attitudes and talents that help them build a future outside of prison.
Uisp Umbria also respected the Epiphany tradition with the 25th edition of the Motobefana, held in full compliance with the anti-covid rules. The departure, from the parking lot in Borgo Novo di Perugia, saw about 90 motorcyclists and motorcyclists on their saddle, headed for Castiglione del Lago. Here, the delivery of health devices and the Befana socks to the women guests of Villa Nazarena, Centro Socio took place. Rehabilitation that hosts women with severe psycho-physical disabilities and in conditions of high or total dependence.
“The Motobefana is a historic Uisp event aimed at social issues. Unfortunately, like the whole sports sector, due to the pandemic it suffers from the crisis and difficulties, but we do our best to reaffirm the values of social sport. The Motobefana is a demonstration that, despite the restrictions of recent days and the upsurge of the pandemic, we are doing everything we can to carry forward the social values of sport ”, says Fabrizio Forsoni, president of Uisp Umbria.
SUSTAINABILITY – AppUisp: services and information with one click
What is the AppUisp? Enrica Francini, national manager of the Sustainability and Resources, Budget and Services Department of Uisp: “The AppUisp wants to be a means for the member and at the service of the member, but it is also born as our membership card. Our association is committed to the digital and ecological transition, so let’s start with the fundamental tool of the card. A digital card, available on your smartphone for every activity carried out within the vast Uisp associative network “.
With the AppUisp, in addition to having the card always available in digital format, it is possible to view any training cards, technical cards, activity licenses and communicate with the insurance broker Marsh. The AppUisp will also soon be integrated with new utilities, such as, for example, online registration for activities and events and to keep up to date with all the news of interest from the entire sports and social system.
“With the use of the ‘digital card’ – adds Francini – we can also actively contribute to the environmental cause, starting with saving paper and not using plastics”.
PROJECTS – Movement pills: when sport is the cure
“Movement pills” is a national Uisp campaign to combat sedentary lifestyle and promote the culture of movement, to which 32 Uisp Committees adhere and from January it will involve over 220 Italian municipalities and 370 amateur sports associations and clubs.
The project is funded by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Sport as part of the EPS 2020 call and through the pharmacies of the provincial Lloyds Group and Federfarma circuits, project partners, 480,000 packs of “Movement pills”.
The packs will contain free coupons for over 1200 sports and motor activities throughout Italy. The leaflet contained in the box, very similar to that of an over-the-counter drug, allows you to take advantage of a free month of physical activity and will be delivered by the pharmacist, like a medicine. The project was born in Bologna in 2010, thanks to a network between Uisp, the local health authorities and the pharmacies involved. A winning and innovative idea, which has established itself in the area and which thanks to this national project will be launched for the first time at national level.
