Some people regret changing the traditional third uniform
Korean professional baseball SSG Landers has released a new uniform to be used from this season on the 19th. The red and white team colors inherited from SK Wiburns, which was acquired off last year, remain the same, but the overall colors, the “thorned” logo, and the typeface of the number are in the style of the Major League Angels. Fans have responded positively, saying, “It’s the same as the Angels. It’s cool,” and criticisms of changing the traditional third uniform have been gathered.
SSG has released three types of uniforms, Home, Visitor and Third, on the official Instagram of the team. The home is white, the visitor’s top is red, and the pants are white. And the third uniform with “INCHEON” on the chest is gray on both the top and bottom, similar to that for Angels visitors.
The third uniform used by SSG last season was called “Incheon Army Uniform”, and it was a simple one with a black chest mark and “INCHEON” on a white background. The motif is the uniform of the “Incheon Army” who won the national tournament in 1947, and was first adopted by SK in conjunction with the “100th Anniversary of Korean Baseball” in 2005. In recent years, it has often been worn in weekend games. Many fans are disappointed with the change of this uniform, asking “Where did the Incheon army go?”
SSG also includes experienced Japanese professional baseball players such as Kevin Cron infielder who played in Hiroshima last season and Ha Jae-hoon (registered name in Yakult is Jehun) who is a former Yakult and will be re-converted to an outfielder from this season. Outfielder Ju Shin-soo, who played an active part in the Rangers of the major leagues, has also belonged since last season.
