Alexandro Calut knows that the Rouches can do better: “We retain the three points, and then…”

Loud music in the Liège locker room is an unmistakable sign. The victory in Eupen, as laborious as it was, freed the Rouches, who had not won since mid-December, in Antwerp (2-3). This allowed to turn up the sound of the sound system, to celebrate. The relief is short-lived, however.

If Alexandro Calut is a young player (18 years old), he is not naive for all that. When he was asked what the satisfactions of this meeting were, the use of the plural was not necessary. “We remember the three points, and then…”

Some silences say enough to understand between the lines.

The left-back agreed that Liège’s production had been too poor, offensively. “We still missed it, it was not a huge match, it’s true. We have a lot to work on, but we feel in training that we are progressing.”

If there is still work, Calut also remembered that Standard finished the match without cashing. “It feels good, and it’s good for the confidence, but the most important thing is to chain the victories now.”

Against Mechelen then, perhaps, Cercle Bruges, the Rouches will still be able to rely on their young left-back, who was quickly warned (18th), but who was able to finish the match. “This yellow card did not put me in difficulty”, he analyzed. “I tried to stay aggressive in the duel, without getting into trouble.”

Luka Elsner sometimes called him to order, to reposition him, or remind him to anticipate an opposing movement.

Above all, he confirmed, in Eupen, the successful performance against Bruges. “I think I was in the same tone as last Sunday (against Club Brugge). I focused on my defensive work.”

He may have seemed a little more borrowed, at times, but he was able to take advantage of the advice of the teammates, to stay focused on his task. “I try to impose myself in this team, and I feel that I am helped.”

He also helps this team, while waiting for the arrival of a new left-back.
