Alarm in Boca by Almendra: injury and crying

The Xeneize midfielder suffered a hard tackle by a player from the U of Chile, in the friendly in La Plata. Initially, it would be a sprained ankle.

Agustín Almendra, who returned to play after his argument with coach Sebastián Battaglia, turned on Boca’s alarms in the friendly against the University of Chile, at the Estudiantes de La Plata stadium: he was injured in the first half, in tears.

The Xeneize youth suffered a hard tackle by Bastián Tapia, inside the area (which the referee considered was not an infraction). The midfielder ended up with severe pain in his right ankle: he broke down crying and had to go out on a stretcher, 25 minutes into the match.

As it transpired, in principle it would be a sprained ankle. In any case, Agustín Almendra will undergo more studies this Saturday, to determine the degree of the injury. A headache for Sebastián Battaglia in the preseason…

In dialogue with ESPN and before the match to be played at the Estadio UNO de Estudiantes de La Plata, the midfielder, who would have been angry with Battaglia for placing him on the right side of midfield -a position in which he does not like to play too much- “I had a normal talk with Seba where I told him that I felt more comfortable on the left, but there was no discussion, fight or anything. He is the one who rules here.” And he made his subordination to the DT clear, for which he added: “In Boca you have to play where they put you”

Cristian Medina, another youth from the Boca squad, entered instead of Agustín Almendra and scored the goal of the partial tie in the friendly against the University of Chile, at the Estadio de Estudiantes de La Plata.
