Ajax makes transfer David Neres official: twelve million euros plus bonuses | Football

The wing attacker is leaving Ajax for an amount of twelve million euros, the club announced. Due to bonuses, this can rise to sixteen million euros.

Neres exchanged his Brazilian club São Paulo for Ajax in January 2017, which paid twelve million euros at the time. By means of bonuses, that amount eventually rose to fifteen million euros. Neres had his best season in 2018/’19. With his good game, the wing flash played a large part in the Champions League success of Erik ten Hag and his team. At the time, he was in the interest of several European top clubs, but Ajax kept him to his contract. Due to injuries and partly due to the arrival of Antony, Neres never reached his level again.

In total, Neres came to 180 official matches in Ajax’s main squad, in which he scored 47 times. He also won two national titles, two KNVB Cups and a Johan Cruijff Shield.
