In an unexpected move, the central defender and the club have reached an agreement to end their contractual relationship

Aitor Arregi will not continue in the Amorebieta Sports Society. The central defender from Bergara and the Urritxe club have reached an agreement by which they put an end to their contractual relationship. An unexpected movement within the zornotzarra squad since, although at least one more exit was suspected, the spotlights at no time had pointed towards Arregi and yes to other teammates with less minutes during the current campaign.

Coming from Racing de Ferrol, the defender arrived at the Urritxe club in the summer of 2018. Since his incorporation, he has become one of the essential men in the defensive line of Iñigo Vélez’s team, almost always acting in the axis of the three central defenders. Undisputed starter, he barely missed a handful of games due to physical discomfort or accumulation of cards.

However, after the achievement of promotion to Second by Amorebieta, Bergara had lost part of that role. Even so, Aitor Arregi has participated in 13 league games this season, all of them as starters, and two in the Copa del Rey. In total, Aitor Arregi has defended the Amorebieta shirt 102 times, scoring five goals for Urritxe’s team.

His departure, the third that occurs after the transfer of Zarra to Logroñés and that of Iker Amorrortu, announced this afternoon by Numancia, frees up one more token in the Zornotzarra squad. A circumstance that gives the blues the necessary room for maneuver to undertake the expected additions of Javi Ros and Andoni López, who could become official in the coming hours.

In a brief statement, Amorebieta thanks “the commitment, effort and professionalism” that Aitor Arregi “has shown over the years as an SDA player.” Likewise, they wish the player “the best of luck in his future, both personally and in sports.”
