World champion Verstappen threatens a race suspension in 2022 – Formula 1

Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen was one of the “bad boys” on the track in 2021. In other words: He collected a lot of penalty points. That could still take revenge.

Two weeks ago, Max Verstappen was crowned Formula 1 world champion for the first time. The Dutch prevailed over Lewis Hamilton in a dramatic final.

In the course of the season, Verstappen not only collected many World Cup points, but also penalty points. In detail: seven. This puts the 24-year-old in second place in the “bad boy ranking” behind AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda (Jap).

Penalty points are awarded by the race commissioners for collisions, disregarding flags and rules as well as offenses on the track.

If a pilot collects twelve “Penalty Points” during a year, he will be banned from a Grand Prix. Because Verstappen first wrote in September 2021 (Monza), he carries his seven penalty points with him for a long time. The Red Bull driver must therefore be careful not to be too impetuous in the first half of the season.

By the way: Ex-world champion Hamilton only got two points last season – for his Verstappen crash at Silverstone.
