Wolff received a reply from Verstappen and Horner after sending congratulations via text in Abu Dhabi

After the final round in Abu Dhabi, which gave Max Verstappen the world championship, Mercedes tried to challenge the result. In vain, after which Mercedes decided after almost 76 hours of reflection time not to look higher. Yet it still bothers Toto Wolff. He also reveals the reactions of Verstappen and Christian Horner to the text messages with congratulations from Wolff.

In an interview with image the Austrian says that Wolff did not make the decisions after the race in Abu Dhabi alone. The same goes for not continuing to challenge the results in Abu Dhabi. “Every step was a joint decision. We have decided together that we are not going to do this. We didn’t want to win the title in court. Every fiber of my heart and soul still cries.”

Wolff agrees with Marko

Following the race in Abu Dhabi, Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko, among others, already announced that the rules, including those under the safety car, should become clearer and simpler. This is to prevent situations like in Abu Dhabi. Wolff agrees with this. “For once we are in complete agreement. The rules must be watertight so that something like this doesn’t happen again, and the right people must be held accountable.”

Verstappen, among others, already said after the race that Toto Wolff had sent him a message with congratulations after the race. It was not known until now what the reactions were from Verstappen. It was a tough battle, I’m looking forward to next year.” Horner also responded quickly to Wolff’s congratulations. “He wrote that it was a good game and that we must not forget that we are eight times constructors champions”
