With the gold in Cali, Jabiel Polanco’s dream began to shine

“I never thought I was going to climb to the top of the podium in these games,” proclaimed Polanco when he returned to the Dominican Republic at noon this Tuesday.

Polanco, who arrived in the company of his coach, Timoteo Pérez, as well as Karla Polanco, athlete and Ramón Holguín, delegate of the Dominican gymnastics team, was happy and content to step on Dominican soil.

The 18-year-old gymnast, a native of Santiago, dedicated the medal obtained in the youth Pan-American fair to his parents, for all the support they have given him since he decided to dedicate himself to sports.

“I dedicate this medal to my parents for all they have done for me,” Polanco said upon arrival.

That achievement by Jabiel corresponded to the third golden metal achieved by the Dominican delegation that takes part in the first Youth Pan American Games that take place in Cali, Colombia.

The gymnastics delegation left Colombia through the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport, on a Copa line flight, marked with number 305, to Panama, where they stopped for a few hours, and later arrived at the Las Américas International Airport runway.

The athletes were received by Orquídea Domínguez, treasurer of the Dominican Gymnastics Federation.

Domínguez cataloged this young team of gymnasts as the next generation that will leave many awards to the country.

“This is the new blood of our sport. We are happy that they have represented us in a dignified way at the Pan American Games ”, Domínguez stated after speaking at the airport.

Along with the gymnastics delegation, part of the youth badminton team also returned to the country.
