With anti-Semitic chants, Beerschot supporters scandalize the web (video)

A video, filmed a priori during Monday’s meeting between Beerschot and Anderlecht and broadcast on social networks, shows supporters of the Antwerp football club singing songs and throwing anti-Semitic insults in front of a cafe. The local police in Antwerp drew up a report and sent it to the public prosecutor’s office, she said on Tuesday.

The events took place in front of the supporters’ café “Stadion”, located right next to the Beerschot stadium, in the Antwerp district of Kiel. The footage shows around 20 people tossing “Hamas, Hamas, Jews on gas” in a reference to the gas chambers built by the Nazis to murder millions of Jews during World War II. Hamas is the ruling Palestinian Islamist movement in the Gaza Strip, considered “terrorist” by the Jewish state. The last armed clash between Israel and Palestine in May claimed the lives of 243 Gazans and 12 Israelis.

Moreover, the Mauves and Whites are sometimes mocked by their opponents who nickname them the “Jews”.

The video revealing these anti-Semitic fields was posted on the Instagram account of a group of hooligans. The Antwerp police, who did not directly witness the events, drew up a report on the basis of the images available.

Monday evening, the Beerschot lost 0-7 against Anderlecht at the end of the 21st day of the Belgian championship.
