Viktor Hovland won the Hero World Challenge, a tournament organized by Tiger Woods, on Sunday in the Bahamas, by a cumulative of 270 (-18) at the end of the 72 regulation holes.

On his last outing at Albany Golf Club, the Norwegian chopped off six shots at par of 72, among other things thanks to a two eagle and birdie streak between the 14th and 16th pennants. However, he took a scare by committing a bug on each of the last two holes.

“I did not believe that a victory was really possible,” Hovland said at a press conference after his victory, he who was six strikes late before the start of the final round. “This course has its share of pitfalls. You can make birdies, but it’s also easy to make bugs or worse. When you get a good result, you never know what can happen. ”

Hovland beat the American Scottie Scheffler with just one stroke. The latter also handed in a last card of 66 (-6), thanks to nine birdies and a triple buggy.

First after 54 holes, with a five-strike lead, American Collin Morikawa had a shot at grabbing No. 1 in the world with a win, but the 24-year-old had an excruciating day at work. He started his day very badly, stalling a double buggy on the fourth hole, before repeating the same mistake two flags later. He added two birdies and as many boguey the rest of his run.

No Canadian was in contention at this tournament which brings together only 20 of the best golfers in the PGA.
