VIDEO | The veteran Ciudad de Linares Basketball Trophy returns

The city of Linares is preparing to host a new top-level sporting event on December 18 and 19. This time it is the City of Linares Basketball Trophy, coinciding with the XXXIX anniversary of CB Linares.
Students Movistar, Unicaja Andalucía, Coosur Real Betis and Valencia Basket Club will be the teams that come to the city to participate in this important trophy that has the support and collaboration of the Linares City Council. The councilor for the Sports area, Pedro Cintero, has underlined the “very high level of this competition that, in addition, follows the line of the Sports department of the municipal administration, which is none other than to continue promoting sports among the youngest” . The four junior teams from these clubs, which are active in the EBA League, will compete for the trophy to be played at the Julián Jiménez de Linares Pavilion.

With free admission, CB Linares has also launched a dissemination campaign among the educational centers of the city so that they can attend this City of Linares Trophy as a public. On the 18th, at 5:30 p.m., the first of the matches between Unicaja Andalucía and Estudiantes Movistar will be played; the second, at 6:30 p.m., will face Coosur Real Betis and Valencia Basket Club. The final duel will be played on Sunday, the 19th, at 12:15 p.m.

The Ciudad de Linares trophy is endorsed by the Andalusian Basketball Federation and, as the president of CB Linares, Miguel Casado, has underlined, “it has an important trajectory and is fully consolidated in the Andalusian basketball calendar”, becoming an attractive appointment for teams of the national elite. In this way, the young promises of Spanish and European basketball will meet in Linares on December 18 and 19. “A great opportunity for all fans of sports in general, and basketball in particular, because it is a trophy for those who are fans,” concluded the Councilor for Sports.
