(supplemented with official information about the cancellation of the championship)
For a team with positive tests, this means a technical loss. Without a chance to go on the field, the loss with a result of 0: 1 was recorded for the USA, Czech and Russian teams.

The game between the USA and Switzerland did not take place on Tuesday, because the coward was opened in the composition of the Americans. On Wednesday, one player had a positive analysis of the Czech national team, which prevented the team from going against the Finns. Shortly afterwards, it became known that the Russian national team would not play against Slovakia due to an infected hockey player.

The decision to cancel the championship was made on the recommendation of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) Medical Committee and the tournament medical team. The IIHF acknowledged that the cancellation of the games affected the integrity of the tournament and that the remainder of the championship should be canceled.

Lyc Tardif, President of the IIHF, emphasized that efforts to provide the necessary conditions for the participants had not been helped and that the most important task would be to ensure the safe return of all players and staff, as it was not possible to continue the championship.

Scott Smith, president of Hockey Canada, also expressed disappointment in canceling the championship.

The IIHF rules require further analysis by teams to determine whether teams are allowed to participate in future matches. However, the Czech national team would not have enough time for the players to receive two negative tests in 24 hours until the next game. Thus, the Czech game against Austria on Thursday should either be postponed or the team awarded another technical loss.

To reduce the risk of the infection spreading, the referees were expected to continue to wear face masks at the U-20 World Championships.

The championship took place in an epidemiological safety bubble in the Canadian cities of Edmonton and Reddeer. The teams were not allowed to be outside the hotel or arena, between which the participants were transported by an inaccessible bus.

10 teams started in the U-20 World Championship, which should determine the winner in the games by January 5. The Latvian national team played in Division A, Group A of the U-20 World Championship in Denmark in December and did not earn a ticket to the elite level.
