FRISCO, Texas – Defensive tackle Trysten Hill’s two-game suspension has been reduced to one game by NFL appeals officer Derrick Brooks, the league announced Tuesday night.
Hill appealed the original two-game suspension for what the league called “unnecessary rudeness and unsportsmanlike rule violations” in the immediate aftermath of the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving loss to the Raiders.
Postgame video showed Hill throwing a punch at Raiders offensive lineman John Simpson. NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan issued the suspension, explaining to Hill in a letter: “You both engaged in a verbal, chest-to-chest confrontation that you escalated by punching his helmet with an open hand. , strong enough to cause the opponent’s helmet to fly off. “
Hill is suspended for Thursday’s game in New Orleans, but will now be eligible to play in the December 12 game in Washington.
Hill has been productive in the defensive line rotation since returning from a knee injury in 2020. He has eight tackles and four quarterback pressures in three games.
