To end the year on a high note!

The Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) concludes the difficult year 2021 on a positive note: it is making a final major award by awarding no less than $ 106,000 in individual scholarships to 40 distinguished student-athletes during a virtual scholarship ceremony organized on December 15 on the Zoom platform. Among these athletes, several are from the region of Quebec and Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean, such as Antoine Briand de Beaupré (cross-country skiing), Alex-Ann Desrosiers Laroche from Saint-Antonin (baseball), Liliane Gagnon from Quebec (cross-country skiing), Aurélie Jacob-Verreault de Lévis (wheelchair basketball), Kaylee Koehler from Quebec (freestyle skiing moguls), Mathieu Lelievre by Donnacona (ice hockey parahockey), Hubert Marcotte from Quebec (long track speed skating), Nassim Nouajaa from Quebec (soccer) and Francois Gauthier-Drapeau Alma (judo, 81 kg). Since its creation in 1985, the FAEQ has awarded $ 19 million in scholarships, representing 6,525 scholarships to 3,300 different scholarship holders.

5300 gifts

Lowe’s Canada and its network (over 360 associates) have collected and donated over 5,300 toys, stuffed animals and other gifts to underprivileged children across Canada. In partnership with Opération Père Noël in Quebec and the Salvation Army in the rest of Canada, participating corporate and affiliate Lowe’s, RONA and Réno-Dépôt stores have temporarily turned into the North Pole to receive and store gifts offered by generous donors. In Quebec, Opération Père Noël takes care of children living in very poor families, or even having been abandoned. “Thanks to the help of generous donors, more than 20,600 of these children, coming from all regions of Quebec, will experience the magic of the Holidays,” said Thérèse Guillemette, co-founder of Operation Santa Claus and nicknamed ” Mother Christmas ”.

Call for candidates for NPOs

The Rotary Club of Saint-Nicolas-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière is looking for mobilizing projects for the year 2022-2023 in the context of its admission to the Rotary Telebingo. The Club wishes to help non-profit organizations (NPOs) in the western sector of greater Lévis. The projects submitted must make it possible to improve or develop facilities serving the organization; to support the practice of a sport or a cultural activity; purchase of equipment, payment for lessons or participation in a competition; to support social integration; respite or holiday camp for handicapped children and holiday camp for children whose families are living in poverty.
